Youth Ministry At Christ the Servant

Christ The Servant has a very active and growing Youth Ministry.  Giving young Christians a safe place to gather together for fun, recreation, and craziness is an important part of youth ministry.  Children, especially teens, grow better when they feel acceptance and support, not judgment and criticism. Our Youth Ministry Team works to help our young people grow in healthy ways as well as grow in faith.  Parents are the most important models of faith for their sons and daughters.  Good programs can help parents in that journey with their children.

Christ the Servant youth participate in a wide variety of activities, including Big Screen Movie Nights, trips to Great America and Noah’s Ark, helping serve Loaves and Fishes meals, recreational outings, lock-ins, retreats and service projects. Annual Summertime Mission Trips have become a good way for our young people to have unique experiences that include putting their faith into action.

Here We Stand Confirmation

“Love the Lord with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.  Love your neighbor as you love yourself.” These are words from Chapter 22 of Matthew, and are known as the Great Commandment. Here We Stand is our new internet based curriculum that is covered in a two year time frame.  We do one year of Bible stories and teaching and the second year of catechism. The students work from an internet site and do preparatory homework and learning right from the computer as well as 2-3 meeting per month on Sunday evenings. This program works with 8th and 9th grade students with Confirmation happening in spring of their 9th grade year.

Two Sundays per month we meet for large and small group discussion which includes a meal, a mix of skits and fun as well as learning the Word lead by our pastor. Our small groups are facilitated by a leader for each grade that leads the group into a deeper understanding of the message just taught by the pastor. The group works together to learn how to apply their understanding and practice their faith including: worship, prayer, walking humbly with God, and growing in the way Jesus taught God’s people to live and work together.  Servant/Fellowship Days are scheduled 8 times per year. Jesus commands us to Love our neighbors as ourselves, so students will learn how to put their faith into action. Learning to Love as Jesus taught us.

We attended Confirmation Camp at Lutherdale in Elkhorn, WI this year. It is a one week retreat for Eighth graders each June. This experience greatly enhances the students understanding of God’s work and fellowship of the students. Bonds grow between students and the meaning of the word in intensified through this experience. Check out our video on Youtube below!

Teen Discussion Group

The Teen discussion group meets in the Youth Lounge each week* during the Sunday school hour, beginning at 9:30 am. Our leaders facilitate open ended discussions with this group of students 8th through 12th grade. The youth group took 10 students plus chaperones to the National Youth Gathering in New Orleans July 09. They had an awesome and life changing experience.
